Wil Brasington

About the Council Member

Wil Brasington serves as the executive director of the Clemson Alumni Association, which provides constituency services, engagement opportunities, and communications to nearly 150,000 Clemson alumni around the world.  In this capacity, he acts as the chief alumni officer of Clemson University and oversees the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the Association. He also manages the affairs of its 24-member board of directors.  

He and his wife, Laura, have two children, Elizabeth (8) and Wilson (5). He began his first term on the City Council on Dec. 11, 2017.

Experience and Community Service

Councilmember Brasington formerly served an assignment as special assistant to the Clemson University president, during which time he was responsible for developing initiatives and managing programs for the President's Office.

A graduate of both Leadership Greenville and Leadership South Carolina, Councilmember Brasington has served on the City of Greenville Planning Commission, chairs the Greenville Revitalization Corporation board of directors, and served as neighborhood representative to the City of Greenville's Residential Infill Task Force. He was previously a member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce board of directors, during which time he served as vice-chair of both Leadership Development and Communications and Community Engagement. The Chamber of Commerce recognized him with the Chairman's Award in 2017 for his contributions.

Awards and Recognition

He is a past president of the Alta Vista Neighborhood Association, a former board member of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas and the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority, and was recognized by Greenville Business Magazine as one of Greenville’s “Best and Brightest Under 35” in 2010.  


Wil earned a degree in history from Clemson University, where he served as student body president, and an MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.
